Finding peace through a gift of real estate to IU

Carl deGraaf, a retired professor of educational psychology at IU Southeast, has found peace of mind knowing that his beloved 96 acres of rolling hills, complete with wooded trails, a meadow, and a pottery studio in southern Indiana, will be dedicated to IU through a real estate gift. For Carl, this is a great way to honor his past, enjoy his present, and impact future generations.

Maybe 50 years from now, people will say, ‘That was a nice gift that enhanced the university and the student experience.’

If you’re considering the impact of your estate plans, you’re likely making decisions about your family home, your personal belongings, and any secondary properties you may have, like a vacation home, vacant land, or a business space.
